Ristorante Vecchia Firenze, Florence, Italy

Our first meal in Florence was lunch at Ristorante Vecchia Firenze. We randomly wandered in and was surprised with a pretty decent meal.

It was the first time I ever had lardo and it was good! Mmmm.. fat!

The chicken caesar salad was not a caesar salad. There were no croutons, no cheese and no caesar dressing! But, still a good, basic salad. It came with shredded chicken, greens, tomatoes, eggs and a bottle of vinegar and oil on the side.

I was afraid the linguine with pesto would be too oily when I ordered it. But I took a chance anyway because I wanted to try a pesto dish in Florence. Thankfully, I took the chance. It was good and not as oily as I had feared.

Jason's ravioli with sage and brown butter was really good.

The fritto misto was a bit heavy and nothing to rave about.

All in all, it was an enjoyable lunch. Food was pretty good, restaurant was relaxed and service was friendly.
