Ferry Building Eats, San Francisco

After we chowed down on sopes at Primavera, Jason and I walked through the Ferry Building to see what else we can nosh on. We picked up some ciccioli from the Fatted Calf and a sour round from Acme Bread.

We nibbled on them while sipping wine at the Wine Merchant. The Wine Merchant is cool. Not only do they let you eat the goodies you picked up at the Ferry Building, but they provided a cheese board and knife.

It was a fun experience, but the wine, bread and spread fell short of my expectations.

Primavera, San Francisco

We got in just in time to do a quick walk through of the farmer's market at the Ferry Building. I had read good things about Primavera, a Mexican food stand that serves up good food only on Saturdays. I read a lot of posts that touted it as the best Mexican in SF.

I didn't get my hopes up too high. I read that the good stuff is normally sold out by noon. We got there about 15 minutes before closing time and there was one lone item left on the menu.. Sopes de Pollo described as "Masa cakes with Riverdog Farm calabacitas, white corn, Oak Hill tomoatillo-poblano salsa and cotija cheese."

The masa came fresh and hot off the griddle. The chicken well marinated with a flavorful sauce that packed a little bit of heat. It was topped with 2 slices of avocado, lettuce, tomato and a sprinkle of cheese.

They were delicious. Don't worry about showing up after noon.
