Isla Mexican Restaurant and Tequila Bar

Jason got the Mystere Dinner Package which included tickets to Mystere and dinner at one of Treasure Island's restaurants. Jason had read good things about Isla, so we made our reservations there.

The package was $126 per person. Pretty decent deal since both dinner and seats were really good.

Dinner included four courses and a house margarita.

We started with quesadillas stuffed with chicken. This is the second quesadilla I've had in Vegas and it seems that the quesadillas there are deep-fried. The tortilla was crispy and it reminded me more of an empanada than a quesadilla. Despite the unusual exterior, the quesadilla was tasty.

The highlight of the entire meal was my entree, the Skirt Steak Pyramid. It was a pyramid all right. Huge slices of steak stacked with grilled tomatoes and onions and topped with guacamole. I was pleasantly surprised to find that the steak was cooked perfectly. More times than not, at non-steak restaurants, it comes out overcooked.

Jason opted for the Chipotle Adobo Tequila Prawns. Good, but not as good as the steak.

We were stuffed. But, since the meal included dessert, we might as well try at least a bite. They offered a Mexican Double Chocolate Cake and Crepes with Cajeta Caramel. They were really good. We both took more than one bite of each.

Nob Hill, Las Vegas

Jason was looking forward to their cookbook tasting menu, but unfortunately, they change their tasting menus from time to time and neglect to update their website. (As of today, the cookbook tasting menu is still up on their site.)

I was completely jet lagged and was falling asleep during this meal so the whole thing is more or less a blur. The meal lasted awhile because we decided to go with the tasting menu. I remember enjoying the meal despite fighting to stay awake through the entire thing.
