Noodles at the Bellagio

Because of the huge brunch we had, Jason and I passed on dinner before our going to the late showing of "O". We were hungry afterwards and wanted something quick and simple so we headed to Noodles right on the casino floor.

We shared a plate of singapore chow mei fun and a bowl of pork and preserved egg congee. It was the blandest version of those noodles I've ever had, but surprisingly the congee was pretty good. It was wee bit on the salty side but it helped offset the blandness of the noodles.

The bill was a bit much for what we ordered. It's about 3 to 4 times more than what's charged in chinatown. But still even though the noodles were bland, it's still a good option to have around. The noodles did a great job of soaking up excess alcohol in the system.

Sterling Brunch at Bally's, Las Vegas

Another champagne brunch only this time it had more variety, believe it or not. Jason made reservations for the sterling brunch (only available on Sundays) at Bally's. I definitely liked it better than the one at Bellagio's, and the brunch at Bellagio's was amazing. This buffet had lobster, caviar, raw oysters, shrimp cocktail, crab legs, cold stuff, hot stuff, sushi, carving stations, desserts, a crepe station, etc. You name it, they had it. And I loved that our champagne glasses never went empty. They were constantly refilled without our asking.

The first thing I looked for was the caviar. It's easy to miss because it's sitting behind the sushi bar and you have to ask someone for it. It's portioned out in small plastic cups. I would've missed it if I didn't overhear a guy asking for it. You can't really ask for more than two without looking like you're hording the caviar. But, the caviar wasn't that great anyway.

They had one of the best cold stations at this buffet. The sushi was very fresh and they had an assortment of eel, yellowtail, tuna and salmon. I don't usually like king crab legs because the reward doesn't normally warrant all the work you put into it. But these crab legs were incredibly fresh and meaty.

My favorite hot food was of course the lobster. The best piece of advice is to try and get a lobster when they first bring it out. I've had the privelege of trying a freshly made lobster and one that's been sitting out and it's a world of difference.

The two pictures you see above are shots of our seconds. We didn't have room left for dessert, but we managed to shove some down anyway. The variety of desserts they had were impressive and we couldn't leave without trying a crepe. Crepes don't do much for me so next time I'll pass, but as I was waiting for the dude to make my crepe, I spotted a whole assortment of chocolate covered strawberries. White chocolate, milk chocolate, dark chocolate, nuts, plain. I'll remember to wear pants with an elastic waistband next time.

Prime Steakhouse

Jason and I woke up from our nap about 5-10 minutes before our 9PM reservations at Prime. Luckily, the restaurant was in our hotel and we wound up being about 15 minutes late. Unfortunately we were told that our table with a view of the fountains was given away and the next table with a view would be about an hour to an hour and a half wait. We had a view of the fountains from our room anyway so we opted not to wait that long. But things worked out and a table with a view freed up in less than a half hour.

Jason and I shared a caesar salad and I love it when they bring it out on two separate plates. The caesar salad was good, but it left me asking where's the anchovies?

On to what matters most, the steak! I ordered the bone-in ribeye and Jason had the NY strip steak. Both steaks were very good and cooked perfectly. The ribeye was a bit fatty, but that's why I love ribeyes. The last thing on my mind when I'm eating a big hunk of meat is how many calories and fat grams I'm ingesting. Plus, I was on vacation where fat and calories don't mean a damn thing.

We were offered sauces for our steaks but I declined. The waiter brought over three of their most popular sauces for us to try anyway. One was a bernaise sauce and I don't recall what the other two were. They also offer mustards with the steaks. That's a first for me. Surprisingly, the mustards complemented the steaks very well. Much better than the sauces, I thought.

For sides, we had the truffled mashed potatoes and the creamed spinach which I wasn't too crazy about. The first few bites of the truffled mashed potatoes were amazing, but once you get half way through, you've had enough. Jason was getting to a point where the potatoes were making him nauseous.

I most likely won't go back to Prime next time I'm in Vegas. The steaks were really good, but the sides and salad were eh. I wasn't too impressed with the service either. It may be one of the best steakhouses in Vegas but no where does it compare with some of the best steakhouses in NY.
